DUE PROCESS HEARING

Not every special education issue requires filing a complaint through a Request for Due Process Hearing, but when it does, we are ready.  We thoroughly analyze school records and share with you the appropriateness of your child's academic progress, educational placement and special education services.  We will brainstorm solutions with your Family and provide representation at Resolution Meetings, Mediation, Hearing, and Appeal, if necessary.

ADVOCACY AT IEP TEAM MEETINGS

IEP Team Meetings can be overwhelming and stressful, especially when a school district is not considering input for the student's best interest or is offering inappropriate goals, placement, and services for the student.  If this sounds like your experience, reach out to us for an IEP evaluation and for us to develop an advocacy plan before your student's next IEP Team Meeting.

ADVISING ON SECTION 504 PLANS

ADVISING ON SECTION 504 PLANS

Similar to IEP Team Meetings, 504 Plan Meetings can be confusing if it is approached without a clear plan and outlook for the student's academic future.  Let us collaborate with your family to help brainstorm what is appropriate for your student based on his or her individual needs.

INFORMAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION (IDR)

When issues arise, a school district may propose Informal Dispute Resolution (IDR) to resolve a student's concerns. While IDR is not mandatory, parents often feel pressured into entering the process, and even worse, they feel obligated to accept a settlement offer that is not completely desirable for their student.  In some instances, parents sign settlement agreements without fully understanding their rights.  Although IDR may resolve some issues, it is not always in the best interest of the student.  If you have a pending IDR settlement agreement offer, we will thoroughly review it with you and give you our professional opinion before you make a decision.

DEFENDING SCHOOL DISCIPLINE ACTIONS

Suspensions and expulsions can negatively impact a student's education greatly, especially when the school district's actions are unjustified.  If a student is eligible or should be eligible for Special Education, there are additional rights and protections available.  Don't let your student receive multiple disciplinary actions without reviewing the root of the problem.  Call us right away!  We will thoroughly investigate the matter and develop a plan to support your student's needs at school, if appropriate.

SPECIAL EDUCATION WORKSHOPS & PROFESSIONAL STAFF TRAINING

We love raising Special Education Law awareness in the community.  Our workshops are interactive and easy to follow.  We eliminate unnecessary and confusing legal jargon from our presentations to make it comfortable and beneficial to those attending.  If your organization would like to schedule a workshop or staff training, please contact us.  We'd love to hear from you to help spread the word about Special Education.  We currently offer our workshops in English and Vietnamese.
