DUE PROCESS HEARING

Not every special education issue requires filing a complaint through a Request for Due Process Hearing, but when it does, I am prepared. I thoroughly analyze school records and assess the appropriateness of your child's academic progress, educational placement, and special education services. I collaborate with your family to brainstorm solutions and provide representation at various stages, including Resolution Meetings, Mediations, and Hearings, if necessary.

ADVOCACY AT IEP TEAM MEETINGS

IEP Team Meetings can be overwhelming and stressful, especially when it feels like the public school is not considering your student's best interests or is suggesting inappropriate goals, placement, and services. If this sounds like your experience, reach out to me for an IEP evaluation and to develop an advocacy plan before your student's next IEP Team Meeting.

ADVISING ON SECTION 504 PLANS

ADVISING ON SECTION 504 PLANS

Similar to IEP Team Meetings, I have found that Section 504 Plan Meetings can be confusing without a clear plan and outlook for my child's academic future. I'm here to collaborate with your family and help brainstorm what is appropriate for your student based on their individual needs.

INFORMAL DISPUTE RESOLUTION (IDR)

When issues arise, a public school may suggest Informal Dispute Resolution (IDR) to address a student's concerns. While IDR is voluntary, parents often feel pressured into participating, and at times, they may feel compelled to accept a settlement offer that doesn't entirely meet their student's needs. In some cases, parents sign settlement agreements without a full understanding of their rights. Although IDR can resolve certain issues, it may not always be in the best interest of the student. If you have a pending IDR settlement agreement offer, I will conduct a thorough review with you and provide my professional opinion before you make a decision.

DEFENDING SCHOOL DISCIPLINE ACTIONS

Suspensions and expulsions can significantly disrupt a student's education, particularly when these actions by the public school are unjustified. If your student is eligible for or should be eligible for Special Education, additional rights and protections are available. Don't let your student face multiple disciplinary actions without addressing the underlying issues. Reach out to me promptly! I will conduct a thorough investigation and work to develop a plan to support your student's needs at school.

SPECIAL EDUCATION WORKSHOPS & PROFESSIONAL STAFF TRAINING

I'm passionate about increasing awareness of Special Education Law within our community. My workshops are designed to be interactive and easy to understand. I purposefully avoid using unnecessary legal jargon in my presentations to ensure that everyone in attendance feels comfortable and gains valuable insights. If your organization is interested in scheduling a workshop or staff training, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'm eager to collaborate and spread the word about Special Education Law. Currently, my workshops are available in both English and Vietnamese.
